COON RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) – Anoka County law enforcement is investigating a hit-and-run that left a 9-year-old boy severely injured in Coon Rapids.
Police say he was riding his bike at about 7 p.m. Wednesday when a pickup truck hit him. The driver fled and police were still looking for the driver Thursday.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the boy was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening. Police did not immediately have an update Thursday morning.
Police said the vehicle was a dark colored Chevy pick-up with an extended cab and two doors.” It also had specific detailing on the vehicle: a letter “Z” and an unknown number following it. The pickup had driver’s-side damage and a dangling side mirror after the crash.
