Grand Forks ready to help flood-ravaged Duluth 21 Jun 12

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – City officials in Grand Forks say they are willing and ready to provide assistance to their counterparts in the flood-ravaged Minnesota city of Duluth.

Mayor Mike Brown tells the Grand Forks Herald  that for now, Grand Forks is offering support and advice, including a 14-page document prepared after Grand Forks was devastated by the Red River flood in the spring of 1997. It’s called “Lessons Learned.”

Flooding caused by torrential rains this week washed out roads in Duluth, submerged a zoo and killed animals, and forced several people to evacuate their homes. Brown says the pictures and video footage have brought back memories of the 1997 flood.
