EAGAN, Minn. (AP) – An Eagan day care provider is being held in jail on $75,000 bond and faces manslaughter charges in the death of a baby in her care.
The Dakota County medical examiner initially was unable to determine a cause of death for 3-month-old Dane Ableidinger, but later ruled the death was the result of “probable positional asphyxia.”
Prosecutors say 64-year-old Beverly Anne Greenagel told investigators she put the baby down for a nap last August in a crib, but later changed her story and said she placed the infant on a folded blanket on the floor. The baby was later found unresponsive.
KARE-TV says Greenagel was licenses to care for up to 12 children, but had 20 in her care on that day, including three infants. Greenagel made her first court appearance Wednesday.
