O’S RALLY IN 9TH, DEFEAT TWINS 14 Mar 13

The Twins had a big rally against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday but in the end it wasn’t enough. Second baseman Ray Olmedo clobbered a home run to right in the bottom of the 8th to complete a rally to put the Twins on top of Baltimore 4-3, but the 9th inning saw the Orioles account for six straight runs and beat Minnesota 9-4. Kevin Correia gave up two runs, one earned, in 4 2/3 innings — the longest start by a Twins pitcher this season. But it was the Orioles that got the best of relievers Josh Roenicke and Caleb Thielbar as they piled up six runs on five hits in the 9th to spell the demise of the Twins on this day. Today the Twins host Boston at 12:05.
