WILD PLAY TONIGHT, MAKE ROSTER MOVES 14 Mar 13

Tonight the Minnesota Wild conclude their three game homestand by hosting the Colorado Avalanche. The Wild have split the first two games of the homestand with a win over Vancouver followed up by Tuesdays 2-1 loss to Anaheim. In that one the Wild controlled play through two periods only to see the Ducks score twice in the third period to snap the Wild’s two game winning streak.

The Minnesota Wild signed free-agent defenseman Brett Clark to a one-year contract. Clark, 36, has collected 185 points and 293 penalty minutes in 681 career games during 13 NHL seasons with Montreal, Atlanta, Colorado and Tampa Bay. Most recently Clark was in the American Hockey League playing for Oklahoma City where he collected 17 points and a plus-7 rating in 18 games. He will wear the number 5 for Minnesota.

One day after taking a blind side hit from Ducks forward Corey Perry, Wild rookie Jason Zucker took to the ice to test his skating. Zucker left Tuesday nights game against the Ducks early in the second after suffering what the team is calling an upper body injury. Wednesday Zucker skated on his own and said he would take it “day by day” as to when he would rejoin his teammates.

Ducks forward Corey Perry has been suspended for four games without pay, for a late, illegal check to Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker on Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his annual salary, the suspension will cost Perry just over 115-thousand dollars.
