MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota State Patrol says three people were killed and five injured in a crash on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.
Lieutenant Eric Roeske says the three-vehicle crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday at 49th Avenue. The State Patrol closed a portion of the interstate for more than three hours as officials investigated.
Roeske says all of the victims were in a minivan which overturned. Several of the occupants were ejected. He says the five injured people are all expected to survive.
The occupants of the other two vehicles were uninjured.
Authorities are still investigating, but Roeske says they do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The names and ages of the victims are not being released at this time
Roeske hopes to have more information Monday morning.
