Minn.’s Star Tribune cartoonist Sack wins Pulitzer 16 Apr 13

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Star Tribune cartoonist Steve Sack has won a Pulitzer for Editorial Cartooning.

It’s the first Pulitzer for the 59-year-old Sack, who has been with the Minneapolis newspaper for 35 years. He previously was a finalist.

Sack is known for his sharp political caricatures. He walked into the newsroom Monday carrying a bottle of sparkling wine, and called the win humbling.

Sack says he comes home “happy and proud” every day working at the Star Tribune.

Sack’s Pulitzer was one of two Pulitzers won by the Star Tribune Monday. The paper also won a Pulitzer for Local Reporting, for its coverage of a sharp increase in infant deaths at home day cares in Minnesota.
