Minnesota’s Charlie Coyle and Cal Clutterbuck scored first period goals as the Wild held on to clip the Kings 2-1 at Xcel Energy Center last night. Minnesota snapped a two-game skid to move two points ahead of Columbus for seventh place in the Western Conference with 53 points. Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom made 22 saves, including a key stop with 12-seconds left in the game. The Wild host the Oilers in their final home game on Friday. A win would clinch a playoff spot for Minnesota.
