Minnesota third baseman Trevor Plouffe belted a two-run homer to back a strong outing from Mike Pelfrey, as the Twins doubled up the Indians 4-2 to avoid a three-game sweep in Ohio. Pelfrey permitted up just one run on four hits in six innings while striking out seven as he evened his record at 3-and-3. Glen Perkins gave up a run in the ninth but held on for his seventh save. Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer drove in a run each for Minnesota, which had lost four-of-five coming in. Carlos Santana hit a solo homer in the ninth and Mark Reynolds had an RBI for the Tribe, which had its six-game winning streak snapped. Corey Kluber yielded three runs in five-and-two-thirds frames as he slipped to 2-and-1. The Twins begin a four-game series at Boston tonight, coverage begins at 5:40pm on AM 1350 KCHK. The Red Sox were swept in Texas over the weekend.
