Police: Missing Minn. woman’s ex bought gun 07 May 13

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – Eden Prairie police say the ex-boyfriend of a missing woman recently bought a gun legally, and an unspent bullet found by searchers is consistent with that gun.

But Police Chief Rob Reynolds says there’s no forensic evidence that the bullet belonged to the man.

The Star Tribune reports police are trying to figure out where to search for 24-year-old Mandy Matula. Police say Matula’s ex-boyfriend, David Roe, did a lot of traveling after she disappeared and before he committed suicide in the Eden Prairie Police Department parking lot.

Matula was last seen late Wednesday. Roe agreed to talk to a police detective, but shot himself after pulling into the police parking lot Thursday and died the next day.

On Saturday, searchers found the unspent bullet near Miller Park.
