Trevor Plouffe, Justin Morneau and Pedro Florimon each had three RBI as the Twins outslugged the Red Sox 15-8 last night in Boston. Ryan Doumit and Aaron Hicks each added a pair of runs batted in. Plouffe had three hits and scored two runs and Florimon homered and doubled. Doumit added four hits, including a two-run homer, and scored three runs. Joe Mauer had a pair of doubles and scored three times for the Twins, who have won three of their last four. Ryan Pressly earned his first career win after tossing four scoreless innings of relief. Jonny Gomes went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and Shane Victorino added a pair of hits including a solo homer. The Red Sox have dropped five of their last six games. Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, a former Twin, had his hitting streak halted at 27 games dating back to last season. Ortiz was 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. The longest hitting streak by a Red Sox player is 34 games set by outfielder Dom DiMaggio in 1949. His brother Joe DiMaggio owns the all-time streak at 56 games set in 1941.
