Mnpls officer injured during struggle is released 13 May 13

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – One of the officers shot during a struggle with a suspect has been released from the hospital.

In an email, Minneapolis police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said Officer Michael Meath was released Sunday but Officer Ricardo Muro was still in satisfactory condition.

The officers were shot Friday while struggling with 22-year-old Terrance Franklin. Police say Franklin fled a traffic stop and broke into a house, where he struggled with officers.

Police say he tried to grab an officer’s gun. Shots were fired and Franklin was shot multiple times.

Police are investigating the details of the shooting.

While other officers responded, police say a motorcyclist struck a squad car that had its lights and sirens on at an intersection. The motorcyclist died. A female passenger was in satisfactory condition Sunday.
