Thomas E. Iten, age 86 of Le Sueur, died on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Minnesota Valley Health Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church in Le Sueur, Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur with the evening concluding with an 8:00 p.m. K.C. Rosary.
Visitation will continue the morning of the Mass at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the Le Sueur Honor Guard. Fr. Kenneth O’Hotto will officiate the services.
Tom was born on July 17, 1926 to Ed & Frances (Wedl) Iten in the Rush River area. He grew up in the Le Sueur area and attended Rush River Country Schools and Le Sueur Schools. He entered the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service, he returned to Le Sueur where he bartended and cooked at the Wilke Hotel, Coachlight Supper Club and the bowling alley. He married Donna M. Sellner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm on Feb. 5, 1953. The couple has lived in Le Sueur for many years where Tom worked most of his life at the Le Sueur Foundry retiring due to poor heath in the late 80′s. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus; avid Bowler, (Bowled a 300 game once and is in the Le Center Bowling Hall of Fame); Twins fan, fisherman and bird watcher.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; Children,Steve (Sara) Iten of Le Sueur, Barb Iten of Le Sueur, Tim Iten of Cleveland, MN, Greg Iten of Ottawa, MN, Sue Iten of Minneapolis and Amy (John) Coughlin of Richfield, MN; 10 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center in his memory.
