Detroit’s Austin Jackson smacked a two-run homer, which highlighted a four-run fourth inning, as the Tigers went on to a 4-2 win over the Twins at Target Field last night. Scott Diamond gave up four runs in six-and-a-third innings for Minnesota, which has lost five out of six. Ryan Doumit went 2-for-3 and cracked a solo homer in defeat. Tiger right-hander Doug Fister earned his 14th win of the season giving up two earned runs on eight hits while striking out seven over six and one third innings and Joaquin Benoit got his 23rd save. The win guarantees Detroit will head to the postseason, with no worse than a tie for the Division title and wild card spot if the tie-breaking game is lost. Tonight, the Tigers send Max Scherzer to the hill, while the Twins counter with Kevin Correia. Coverage begins at 6:40pm on AM 1350 KCHK.
