Lela Skelly, age 85 of Le Sueur, formerly of Belle Plaine, died on Sunday evening, Sept. 29, 2013 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine from 4-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday morning. Interment will follow luncheon at the church at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Le Sueur.
Lela was born on July 2, 1928 to Elzie & Adeline (Benshoof) Thomas in Roanake Rapids, NC. She grew up in the Henderson area and graduated from Henderson High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator in Le Sueur before she married Gerald Skelly on Feb. 2, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Church in Henderson, MN. She worked for over 30 years from 1963-1994 at Anchor Glass in Shakopee, MN. She enjoyed traveling and time with family and friends.
Lela is surivied by her 3 children; Dorothy “Jake” Skelly of Shakopee Tom (Kathy) Skelly of Le Sueur, MN, Pat Skelly (special friend Lynn Jaworski and her family) of Belle Plaine, MN. Grandchildren; Laura (Rich) Templin, Luke and Tom Skelly, Great-Granddaughter; Olivia Templin. Sisters-in-Law; Betty Thomas of Belle Plaine, MN, Margaret Heinz of Shakopee, MN, Mary Ann Bruneau of Shakopee, MN
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; brother, Elzie Thomas
