BURNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) – Hundreds of people packed the Burnsville Performing Arts Center for a memorial service dedicated to a slain University of Minnesota student.
Family, friends, former high school classmates and university sociology professors spoke during Sunday afternoon’s memorial for Anarae Schunk. They described Schunk as a leader, an educator and communicator.
The body of the 20-year-old woman was found a week ago in a ditch near Lonsdale. Rosemount police say they believe she died at a townhouse where she went with her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend after they left a Burnsville bar Sept. 22. No charges have been filed.
The Star Tribune reports Schunk’s chess coach, mentor and friend, Brian Ribnick, said she was “good at the game of life,” and that her belief in him would always be an inspiration.
