Herman L. Bressler, 83 of LeSueur, Minnesota died on Friday, October 18, 2013 a the Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter. He was born on August 25, 1930 in Norwood, Minnesota to Herman and Gertrude (Wolter) Bressler. He attended schools in Norwood and Henderson and then went to work for the Arlington Creamery.
He entered the United States Marine Corps in December of 1951 and served as a military policeman during the Korean Conflict. He married Delores Doktor on July 14, 1952 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Herman was employed by the New Brighton Arsenal, Kasota Stone Co, LeSueur Foundry and was a truck driver for the Green Giant Company. In 1963, Herman purchased a farm in Jessenland Township near Henderson which he farmed until 1988. After retiring from farming he held jobs at Green Giant MRE and the LeSueur rest area. He enjoyed traveling with Delores in their motorhome, attending bluegrass and country music festivals, coffee and meals with friends and family, fixing and restoring old vehicles, machinery and riding motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Delores. Daughter, Barbara (Robin) McKee of New Ulm and a son, Brad (Delisa) Bressler of Austin, TX and granddaughter, Caroline Bressler. Also surviving are sisters, Lyla Smith of Henderson, Glenda Effertz of Green Isle and Mavis (Roger) Grimmelman of LeSueur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in LeSueur. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kolden Funeral Home and will continue on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors by the LeSueur Honor Guard, will be in the Calvary Cemetery in LeSueur.
