Percy W. Chambers, age 89 of Henderson, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his
home in Henderson surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Funeral service will be
11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10 at Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson. Rev.
Robert Hines will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Kolden
Funeral Home in Henderson and will continue one hour prior to service time at church on
Tues. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery in Henderson.
Percy was born on July 27, 1924 to Thomas and Elizabeth Chambers in Madison Lake,
MN. He moved to the Le Sueur area after the death of both of his parents at a very
young age. He worked and drove truck for Green Giant. He served his country in
Germany during WWII. He married Marie Fries on July 13, 1946 at Centennial Church
in Henderson. He started his own trucking business and hauled dairy products. He later
worked for Le Sueur Inc. where he retired from at the age of 62. After retirement he
went back to driving truck for his son, Don Chambers Trucking. He enjoyed helping out
on farms and logging.
Percy is survived by his children, Donald (Beverly) Chambers of Henderson, Joyce
Segler of St. Peter, Norma (Carl) Segler of Henderson, Karen Willinger of New Ulm,
Shirley Chambers of Henderson and Patricia (Mark) Pomplun of Henderson; 21
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great- grandchild; siblings, Ruby (Cecil)
Ernsting and Lillian Tiegs.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; children, Michael in infancy,
Kenneth and William.
