Vikings ponder what might have been 17 Dec 13

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – Now that Matt Cassel has grabbed hold of the starting quarterback spot in Minnesota, the Vikings can only ponder what might have been had he taken over sooner.

Cassel threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns to help the Vikings breeze to a 48-30 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. It was his third straight solid performance, and the veteran has brought consistent stability that wasn’t there during the quarterback shuffle of the first 10 games.

Cassel has been the quarterback in three of the Vikings’ four victories this season.

Coach Leslie Frazier says hindsight is always 20/20 and the Vikings had their reasons for not going to Cassel earlier. Receiver Greg Jennings says it would have made a big difference.
