Lillian Clara Uhlir

Lillian Clara Uhlir, 91, of Lonsdale, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 after a short illness. Lillian was born on January 23, 1923 at her parent’s home in Wheatland Township to Frank and Mary (Horejsi) Trenda. Lillian attended school in Veseli and later in Lonsdale, graduating from Lonsdale High School in June 1941. After high school, she worked in St. Paul for St. Joseph’s Hospital and later for Joyce Insurance. Lillian married Emil Uhlir on October 22, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale. They farmed for many years outside of Lonsdale & moved to town in 1968. Lillian worked part time at Tikalsky’s grocery store for several years. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 586 and was elected to several positions, including President in 1978 & 1992. She was also active in many church groups and the Golden Agers Senior Citizens Group.
Lillian is survived by a daughter, Jean (Ron) Roberts grandson Timothy, son Kevin, step-grandson Jack (Kelly) Metcalf, step-great granddaughters Sara and Savannah Metcalf and sister-in-law Mary Kabes. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband Emil, son John, daughter-in-law Rita and her brothers William, Frank, John and George Trenda.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Friday April 4, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Visitation will be at White Funeral Home in Lonsdale (507 744 2368) on Thursday (4/3) from 4-8 PM and one hour before Mass at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale. Lunch will be served at the American Legion Clubrooms after the services.
