Lloyd G. Schultz, age 84, of Belle Plaine, died, April 18, 2014 at the Belle Plaine
Lutheran Home. Funeral Services will be Tues, April 22, at St. John Lutheran
Church in Belle Plaine at 11a.m. Visitation 4 to 8 pm on Monday at Kolden
Funeral Home in Belle Plaine with a short veteran’s service at 7 p.m .and 1 hour
prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Interment, with military honors, will
be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by wife, Lorraine; children, Doug (Carol), Dave (Cindy),
Brad (Sue), Renee, Donald (Tara), Brian (Noreen) and Jean (Eric) Johnson; 17
grandchildren, Jacob (Katy), Janelle, Ali, Tony, Courtney, Pat (Jen) Mike, Matt,
Colin, Aidan, Kellan, Tucker, Michael, Nick, Elizabeth, Lauren and Rachel;
Great-grandchildren, Caroline, Abigail, Luke and CeCe; sister, Mildred Borchardt.
Preceded by parents, Tony & Lillian Schultz, sister, Irma Siemon and brothers-in-
law, Norman Borchardt & Paul Keup.
Lloyd was born on September 26, 1929 in Belle Plaine Township to Anton and
Lillian (Otto) Schultz. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and helped
on the family farm. After serving in the U. S. Army he married Lorraine Keup on
April 8, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. They farmed in
Faxon Township, Sibley County for 45 years and he also was a rural mail carrier
in the Belle Plaine area for 26 years. They retired to Belle Plaine in 1998. In his
retirement years he worked part time for Minnesota Valley Electric, Stier Bus
Service, Fenske Funeral Home and the Belle Plaine Co-op. Lloyd was a life-long
Belle Plaine town team baseball enthusiast having played the game, volunteered
his time for the baseball association and served on the baseball board. For over 30
years he served on the “Chain Gang” for the high school football games. He also
had a love of bowling and playing cards. He was a member of St. John Lutheran
Church, American Legion and the Vet’s Club.
