MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A key official says negotiations are likely to be completed next month on a detailed use agreement for the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium.

Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority said Monday the big issues having to do with rent and concession revenue were already settled in the stadium law passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 2012. But she says the new document will lay out the details and resolve smaller issues.

She says a similar use agreement was in place for the Metrodome.

Kelm-Helgen tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that once the sports facilities authority votes on the agreement – likely in July – it will be made public.

The Vikings hope to move into the new $975 million stadium for the 2016 season.

The Minnesota Twins got a day off yesterday for the first time in 17 days as they prepared for the start of a three game series tonight in Kansas City. The Twins earned the time off by winning seven-of-nine while slugging .449 with 15 homers, including four in Sunday’s 10-0 win over Seattle. Nice stretch of baseball considering prior to that the Twins had lost ten straight, tied for the fourth longest losing streak in team history. The Royals come into the series on a 3-14 slide. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on AM 1350 KCHK.

Thomas To Join Twins

The Twins announced on Monday that they have selected the contract of outfielder Clete Thomas from Triple-A Rochester. Thomas has appeared in 36 games for the Red Wings hitting .296 with eight doubles, nine home runs and 25 RBI. The 28-year old outfielder appeared in 12 games for the Twins last year after being claimed off waivers from Detroit in April. Thomas will join the Twins today in Kansas City and wear uniform number 11.

Robertson Sent Out

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Robertson was designated for release or assignment on Monday making room for Clete Thomas on the 40-man roster. Robertson was drafted by the Twins in the third round in 2006 and made the Twins Opening Day roster before being optioned to Triple-A on April 6.

Mauer Top AL Catcher

Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera leads all American League vote-getters in the first results from All-Star balloting. Cabrera, last year’s AL MVP and Triple Crown winner, has never been elected as an All-Star starter by the fans. He has one-million, 500-thousand-165 votes, well ahead of New York second baseman Robinson Cano. Both Cabrera and Cano have healthy margins at their respective positions. The closest race is shortstop, where Texas’ Elvis Andrus has a lead of a little more than ten-thousand votes over Baltimore’s J.J. Hardy. Minnesota’s Joe Mauer leads at catcher and Boston’s David Ortiz has a wide margin at designated hitter. Mike Trout of the Angels, Baltimore’s Adam Jones and Detroit’s Torii Hunter hold the three top outfield spots in the balloting. Voting will continue through July 4th and the teams for the July 16th All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York will be unveiled on July 7th.
